PSSI chairman Nurdin Halid said the placement of the national team (England), Indonesia along with Thailand and Malaysia in the group A on the 2010 Suzuki AFF Championship not be sorry because in general the power of football teams of South East Asian countries actually balanced.
"I think the strength of Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore were almost the same, balanced. Nothing really more powerful, each other can beat each other," said Nurdin Halid was quoted as saying PR Tubagus PSSI AP in Jakarta, Thursday (16 / 9).
AFF Suzuki Sweepstakes Championship conducted Wednesday afternoon at the Sheraton Hotel, Hanoi, Indonesia joined the national team placing in the group A with the second-seeded Thailand and Malaysia are both seeded 4th position.
One other participant in the group A is the winning teams from the qualifying rounds held in Laos on October 16 to 24 followed by Laos, Cambodia, Timor Leste and the Philippines. While the runners-up will enter the qualifying Group B which were already occupied Vietnam, Singapore, and Myanmar.
Allowance for Group A matches will be held at the Bung Karno Main Stadium in Senayan 1, 4, and December 7, 2010. Two top teams qualifying for the semifinals will compete cage and away games (home and away).
Elimination of the group B match series was held on 2, 5, and December 8, 2010, in Hanoi. Two top ranked teams will compete in the group also cross semifinals with two teams from Group A.
Responding to further division Championship 2010 AFF Suzuki group, Nurdin Halid admitted could understand if some soccer fans think Indonesia is in a tough group stage. However, according to him, by looking at the constellation of comparative strength of the best teams Southeast Asia in recent years, he judged no one should really be feared.
"So I do not think right when we are said to be in the weight group so that our national team's position is weak. I think both groups are balanced," he asserted.
